On the road towards Pralognan la Vanoise, take the road to Chambéranger, on the left going up after the village of Planay, and on the right going down from Pralognan la Vanoise.
Once in Chambéranger, take the mountain road towards Plan Fournier. Once in Plan Fournier, follow the signs (yellow signs) towards the Refuge du Grand Bec.

Presentation

A route for experienced hikers, linking two high Alpine valleys via a high-altitude pass.
A route between the Grand Bec mountain hut and Plan des Gouilles, with the option of returning via the Tour du Merle (allow around 2 hours extra)
Start: From Plan Fournier, follow the path to the Grand Bec mountain hut.
Then, from the hut, follow the signs for Fontaine Froide. Pass at the foot of the former Culaz Glacier and the Grand Bec, crossing the streams.
At the junction, take the glacier path on your right and follow the signposts for Col des Gallinettes/Refuge du Plan des Gouilles. Once at the pass, head towards Champagny en Vanoise via the valley leading to the foot of the Grande Marianne pass.
Cross this ridge, then descend the scree slope and boulder field to the Refuge du Plan des Gouilles.
From the refuge, head slightly downhill and take the path on the left, towards the Chalets de Méribel and then the Tour du Merle. Once at the Tour du Merle, head down towards Plan Fournier.

Equip yourself with good shoes and clothes well suited for mountains.

To know

Topos pas à pas1/ From Plan Fournier, follow the path to the Grand Bec refuge.
2/ Then, from the refuge, follow the signs for Fontaine Froide.
3/ At the junction, take the glacier path on your right and follow the signs for Col des Gallinettes/Refuge du Plan des Gouilles.
4/ Once at the pass, head towards Champagny en Vanoise. Descend the scree slope and rocky terrain to the Plan des Gouilles refuge.
5 / From the refuge, head slightly downhill and take the path on the left, towards the Chalets de Méribel and then the Tour du Merle.
6/ Once at the Tour du Merle, head down towards Plan Fournier.
Alerte visiteursThis hike is accessible with a dog, but we advise you to keep your dog on a lead throughout the entire route. This helps to protect wildlife, preserve flora and ensure the peace and quiet of other hikers.
