How is the tourist tax applied ?

Definition

Taxe de séjour (holiday tax) is a French tax to pay all the expense linked to the tourist equipment and to the protection of the natural sites destinated to the visitor.
It’s payed by the visitor according to the number of night stay and to the category of the accommodation (number of stars).

 

Who have to pay ?

  • Private accommodation
  • Bed and breakfast
  • Campsite
  • Other type of accommodation (ex : mountain huts…)
  • Hotel
  • Holidays residence
Children under 18 years old don’t have to pay.
